How do I contact Chessnook?
Send us an email at zhiii0x@gmail.com. Please include your device model (e.g. iPhone 15) and your iOS version so we can help faster.
How do I report a bug or crash?
Email zhiii0x@gmail.com with:
- What you were doing when the issue happened
- Your device model and iOS version
- The app version (Settings → About inside the app)
- A screenshot or screen recording if possible
How do I change the language?
Chessnook supports Traditional Chinese, English, and Japanese. The app follows your iOS system language by default. You can override it from Settings → Language inside the app.
How does the AI difficulty work?
The AI runs entirely on your device — no internet needed. There are several levels from Easy to Master. Easy makes more mistakes and plays casual moves; Master searches deeper and is a serious opponent. If a level feels too tough, drop one notch and rebuild confidence with wins.
How do I restore my in-app purchases?
If you've reinstalled the app or got a new device, open Settings → Restore Purchases inside the app while signed in to the same Apple ID. Your previously purchased themes and the "Remove Ads" upgrade will return at no extra cost.
Can I get a refund?
All in-app purchases are handled by Apple. Refund requests are processed through Apple, not Chessnook. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the purchase, and tap Request a refund.
How do I remove ads?
Chessnook is free and includes occasional banner ads. You can purchase Remove Ads from the Settings screen as a one-time in-app purchase. After purchasing, ads will disappear immediately, and the upgrade will carry over to any device signed in to the same Apple ID.
Why do I see an ad-tracking prompt?
When you launch Chessnook for the first time, iOS may ask whether you allow apps to track your activity. This is Apple's standard App Tracking Transparency prompt. Your choice is respected — saying "Ask App Not to Track" works fine and doesn't lock you out of anything. You can change your answer any time from iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Does Chessnook need an internet connection?
No. Chessnook is fully playable offline. The only network traffic is for ad delivery (if you haven't removed ads) and for in-app purchases. If you're offline, you may simply see a blank space where the ad would be.
Does Chessnook collect personal data?
Chessnook itself does not collect or send your personal data to our servers — we don't even have servers. The only data flowing out of the app comes from Google AdMob, which powers our ads. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
Is Chessnook good for beginners?
Yes — Chessnook is designed with beginners in mind. The AI scales from gentle to challenging, puzzles teach the basics step by step, and the mascot softens losses with encouragement. There is no chat, no user content, and no social features. Ads served by Google AdMob may appear; a single Chessnook Pro purchase removes all ads and unlocks the rest of the paid features.
How do I delete my data?
Because Chessnook stores everything locally on your device, deleting the app from your iPhone or iPad removes all of your data — saved games, settings, and progress. There is no cloud account to wipe.
