The short version: Orbeat collects no personal data, has no accounts, shows no ads, and includes no tracking or analytics. Everything you make stays on your device. We have nothing to sell because we gather nothing.
Information we collect
None. Orbeat does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information about you. There are no user accounts, no sign-in, and no usage analytics or tracking technologies of any kind.
What stays on your device
Orbeat saves your work and preferences locally so the app is useful between sessions. This data lives only in the app's storage on your iPhone or iPad and is never sent to us or anyone else:
- Your beats and projects — patterns you create and save, plus a single autosave of your current beat.
- Your custom kits and imported audio — when you load an audio file into a lane, Orbeat copies it into its own storage so the kit keeps working. That copy stays on your device; deleting the kit removes it.
- App preferences — small on-device settings such as your sync choice, MIDI receive channel, and whether you've seen the intro (stored in iOS user defaults).
- File dates — Orbeat reads the modification date of your own saved files so the project list can sort most-recent first. This metadata stays on the device.
You can remove this data at any time by deleting your saved projects in the app, or by deleting Orbeat from your device.
Purchases
Orbeat offers one optional, one-time purchase — Orbeat Pro — handled entirely by Apple's App Store. Payment is processed by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy; Orbeat never sees or stores your payment details. To confirm whether you own Pro, the app checks your App Store entitlement on the device. We receive no personal information from this process.
Network use
Orbeat works offline. It talks to the internet in exactly one place: Apple's services, to load the Orbeat Pro price and to verify or restore a purchase. There are no other servers — ours or anyone else's.
Ableton Link (local network only). If you choose Ableton Link as the sync source, Orbeat uses your local network to find and stay in time with other Link apps and devices nearby. That traffic never leaves the network you're on, carries only musical timing — tempo and beat position — and contains nothing personal. iOS asks for local-network permission the first time; decline it, or leave Sync set to Off or External MIDI Clock, and Orbeat makes no local-network connections at all.
Third parties
Orbeat contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. No data is shared with, or sold to, anyone. The app does embed Ableton's Link library so it can sync with other music apps — it exchanges musical timing on your local network and reports to no one.
Children's privacy
Orbeat is safe for all ages. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will be reflected in an app update.
