Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 August 2026

Contour collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and makes no network requests of its own. Everything you play, record, or create stays on your device.

That is the whole policy. The rest of this page explains what the app touches and why, so you can check the claim rather than take it on trust.

What the app does not collect

What stays on your device

Recordings The REC control captures what the app itself is producing. Files are written to the app's own temporary storage and are never uploaded.
Your sheets Sheets you compose and bake are saved inside the app's private container so the Audio Unit can also read them. They do not leave the device.
MIDI input Notes arriving from a connected controller or a host application are turned into sound and discarded. Nothing is logged or stored.
Purchase state Whether Contour Pro is unlocked is stored locally as a single flag.

Purchases

Contour Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Payment is processed by Apple; we never see or receive your payment details, and no payment information passes through the app.

The app asks StoreKit — Apple's own framework — whether a purchase exists for your Apple Account. That request goes to Apple, not to us, and returns only whether you are entitled to the Pro features. We receive no identifier that could tell us who you are.

Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

The Audio Unit

Contour also installs an Audio Unit (AUv3) plug-in so the instrument can be used inside a DAW. It runs in its own process, reads the same sheets, and has the same properties described above: no network, no collection, no microphone.

Children

Contour is safe for all ages in the sense that matters here: it gathers no personal information from anyone, of any age, and has no social features, no user-generated content shared with others, and no external links inside the instrument itself.

App Store privacy label

On the App Store, Contour's privacy label reads Data Not Collected. That declaration matches what is described above.

Changes

If a future version of Contour ever collects anything, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described here rather than folded silently into a new date.
