GhostTrail logs environmental sensor readings — magnetometer, accelerometer, location — as data. We do not present these readings as evidence of paranormal activity. This page explains what we collect, what we never collect, and how to delete everything.

Data that stays on your device

Every capture you make stays on your phone. Pin coordinates, sensor traces, photos, and notes live in the app's local store and sandbox until you explicitly share or delete them. Nothing in the local store is transmitted off-device on its own.

Data sent off-device — only when you tap SHARE TO WORLD MAP

When you share a pin publicly, the following is uploaded:

  • Your Apple Sign-In user identifier, used as the row's owner. Apple issues this identifier; it is not derived from any other identity.
  • The pin's name and any short notes you wrote.
  • The capture photo, if you attached one.
  • Approximate coordinates — fuzzed by ±30 meters before upload. Precise coordinates never leave the device.

Data we never collect or share

GhostTrail does not collect: advertising identifiers (IDFA), microphone audio, precise coordinates that leave the device, your contacts, photos beyond the one you attach to a shared pin, analytics events, or any data from third-party SDKs. The app contains no SKAdNetwork integration and no tracking libraries.

Where shared data lives

Shared pins are stored in Supabase (Postgres database + object storage), hosted in the United States (us-west-1). Access is gated by Postgres row-level security: only your account can write or delete rows owned by your user identifier.

Apple Sign In

Sign in with Apple is the only authentication method. Apple may relay a private email address rather than your real one; we never see your real Apple ID email. We store only the stable user identifier Apple returns.

Deleting your data

Profile → Delete account permanently removes your account, every pin you have shared, attached photos, and your block list. Deletion cascades immediately at the database level and cannot be undone.

Reports and moderation

Other users can report or block your shared pins. Reported content is hidden within 24 hours pending review. Repeated violations result in account suspension.

Children

GhostTrail is not directed at children under 13. The app contains supernatural themes and is intended for users 13 years and older.
